THE SLOW ARCHIVE
A repository for silent imagery and slow memory
Established in 2025, The Slow Archive is a contemporary digital platform dedicated to the most intimate and contemplative languages of photography. We seek artists who reflect upon time and the landscape through a conscious, deliberate lens. This is a space for gazes that slow down, observe, and remember—an invitation to pause and witness the passage of time. While currently digital, the archive aspires to evolve into printed editions and physical exhibitions. Contributions and donations directly support this evolving research into emerging visual practices.
The project was conceived by Francesco Capasso (b. 2001), a photographer whose work explores peripheral landscapes and marginal spaces as sites of thought. Rooted in the concept of subtraction, his practice removes functional narratives to reveal the silent potential of the image. A graduate of the Accademia di Belle Arti di Napoli, his research focuses on the intersection of reality and possibility. Today, the archive serves as a collective extension of this philosophy, bridging the gap between the viewer and the essence of the observed world.
